Many times I have encountered establishments I could not enter, or streets and shopping centers without curb ramps or accessible parking, or bathrooms I could not use because they were not accessible because I am disabled and use a wheelchair. This is outright discrimination and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA Law) protects those with physical disabilities from such discrimination.
Many times I have been stuck in my home because I didn't have the funds to pay for my wheelchair repair or needed a piece of medical equipment to make my life easier which I could not afford.
I also had to struggle to pay for schooling and retraining to be marketable in the work place because I could not go back to my previous job because of my disability.
If you are looking for information on a certain type of disability or resources, housing, advocacy, or peer mentoring, or life coaching services please don't hesitate to contact us!
If any of the above things have happened to you please contact us so we can see if we might be of help with law services, funds for medical equipment, or scholarships for schooling.
